As a girl she was bulimic. But Marion A. Bilich, Ph.D., now is a licensed clinical psychologist in practice in Hewlett, New York, since 1978, who specializes in treating eating disorders (including anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and compulsive overeating). Her own experience and those of her troubled patients have taught her to recognize the underlying emotional problems that seem to stimulate dangerous eating patterns. Called one of the ‘leading contributors in the movement for women to examine their oppressive relationship to food and their bodies’ (by Jane Hirschman and Carol Munter, in Overcoming Overeating), Dr. Bilich’s work has been cited in the NEW YORK TIMES, THE DAILY NEWS, COSMOPOLITAN, FAMILY HEALTH, and the NEW WOMAN Magazine. She is the author of several articles and papers in professional journals. She has appeared on national television as well as local cable and radio stations throughout the United States. She also speaks regularly at professional conferences and presents workshops on Centered Eating: A Spiritual Approach to Overcoming Eating Problems in New York, Chicago, and California. Recently Dr. Bilich completed a book entitled Shared Grace, about how therapists and clergy can collaborate in helping women heal from the effects of severe childhood abuse.

ENEMY

"'Love your enemies,' if you can do it, is shrewd practice. It saves you from the wear and tear of evil passions, while your opposition will be all the more effective for being good-natured."
    CHARLES HORTON COOLEY,
